QVT and QVCT on an HR Resume: Real Skills, Not Wellness Window-Dressing

Yoga classes, fruit baskets, a foosball table: when quality of working life on an HR resume comes down to examples like these, an experienced recruiter tunes out. In France, QVCT (qualité de vie et des conditions de travail, quality of working life and working conditions) is first and foremost about work organization, risk prevention and social dialogue. It rests on a precise legal framework built on collective bargaining and occupational risk assessment.

This guide helps you present your QVT or QVCT experience credibly, whether you are an HR generalist, HRBP, HR manager or HR director: the framework to know, the skills that count and example resume lines.

From QVT to QVCT: the framework to know

Knowing the history and legal vocabulary is a first sign of expertise.

  • National Interprofessional Agreement (ANI) of 19 June 2013: the agreement "towards a policy to improve quality of working life and gender equality" established the concept of QVT (quality of working life).
  • ANI of 9 December 2020: the national agreement on occupational health, "for stronger prevention and a renewed offer in occupational health and working conditions", introduced the term "quality of working life and working conditions". The added "C" puts working conditions back at the center.
  • Act of 2 August 2021 to strengthen prevention in occupational health: it wrote that agreement into law. Since 31 March 2022, the French Labour Code refers to QVCT.

Mandatory negotiation

In companies with one or more union branches of representative trade unions, the employer must negotiate on "gender equality and quality of working life and working conditions" (Article L2242-1 of the Labour Code). An agreement can set how often this happens, up to every four years; without such an agreement, the negotiation is annual.

Article L2242-17 details the content, which notably covers:

  • work-life balance;
  • gender equality and combating discrimination;
  • employment and job retention of workers with disabilities;
  • welfare and supplementary health coverage;
  • employees' right to direct and collective expression;
  • how the right to disconnect is exercised.

Occupational risk prevention

  • DUERP: every employer assesses occupational risks and records them in the single occupational risk assessment document. The Act of 2 August 2021 strengthened this document (retention, electronic filing).
  • Prevention program or action list: companies with at least 50 employees draw up an annual program for occupational risk prevention and improvement of working conditions (PAPRIPACT); smaller companies produce a list of prevention actions.
  • Psychosocial risks (RPS): they are part of the risks to assess. The work of the expert panel led by Michel Gollac (2011) remains a reference for analyzing them.
  • CSE and CSSCT: the works council (CSE) has health, safety and working conditions responsibilities; a dedicated health, safety and working conditions committee (CSSCT) is mandatory in companies with at least 300 employees.

Two other texts come up often: the right to disconnect, introduced by the Act of 8 August 2016, and the ANI of 26 November 2020 on remote work. For support, Anact (the national agency for the improvement of working conditions) and its regional Aract network help companies with these initiatives, and INRS publishes tools on preventing psychosocial risks.

Why "workplace wellbeing" is not enough on a resume

An HR recruiter who reads "QVT" wants to know whether you worked on the real levers: workload, organization, management, prevention, social dialogue. Activities and perks have their place, but on their own they are not a QVCT approach.

Before

Ran wellbeing initiatives (sophrology workshops, team breakfasts).

After

Led the QVCT assessment of a customer contact center (220 employees) with support from the regional Aract: interviews, workshops where staff discussed their work, absenteeism analysis; 4 organizational actions (schedules, breaks, tools) added to the DUERP and monitored with the works council.

QVCT skills to highlight

1. Running an assessment

This is the core skill, and the one that marks a serious approach. It combines:

  • metrics: absenteeism (by reason, duration, department), workplace accidents, turnover, overtime, medical unfitness, employee-requested health visits;
  • qualitative data: surveys, interviews, discussion groups, input from the works council and occupational health;
  • analysis of actual work: the gap between work as prescribed and work as actually done, which is often where the causes lie.

Built the occupational health dashboard (absenteeism, workplace accidents, medical restrictions, turnover by department), shared quarterly with the CSSCT and site directors.

2. Assessing and preventing psychosocial risks

Updating the psychosocial risk section of the DUERP, building a prevention plan at primary level (organization, workload), secondary level (training, tools) and tertiary level (handling situations), setting up a reporting and investigation procedure.

Integrated psychosocial risk assessment into the DUERP of 6 sites (work-unit method, working groups with the CSSCT); 18-measure action plan, including 7 primary prevention measures on workload.

3. Negotiating and running an agreement

QVCT goes through mandatory negotiation. Preparing a shared assessment, proposing measures, leading meetings, drafting the agreement and running the monitoring committee are sought-after skills. If labor relations are a big part of your job, our article on the labor relations resume will help you present them.

Negotiated the 2025-2028 gender equality and QVCT agreement (4 unions): right to disconnect, meeting charter, support for employees who are carers, 10 monitoring indicators reviewed yearly in committee.

4. Acting on work organization

This is what separates window-dressing QVT from genuine QVCT. Examples: redesigning schedules, reducing interruptions, clarifying roles, regulating workload, setting up discussion spaces about work, involving employees in change projects. That last point connects with change management, another topic worth highlighting.

5. Training and equipping managers

Working conditions depend heavily on frontline management: training on psychosocial risk prevention, workload regulation, return-to-work interviews after long absences, practical guides.

6. Rolling out and framing remote work and disconnection

Remote work agreement or charter, disconnection rules, monitoring the effects (isolation, workload, equipment): a concrete QVCT topic, best presented with the measures and their follow-up.

Resume lines by job level

| Role | Possible resume line | |---|---| | HR generalist | "Monthly absenteeism tracking for 3 departments and data preparation for the CSSCT; organized 25 return-to-work interviews with managers" | | HRBP | "Supported a logistics division (400 employees) after a rise in absenteeism: assessment with occupational health, revised shift patterns, absenteeism down from 9% to 6.5% in 18 months" | | HR manager | "Updated the DUERP and PAPRIPACT for 3 sites, launched work discussion spaces in 12 teams" | | HR director | "Championed the group QVCT approach to the executive committee: agreement negotiated, 5 indicators added to site directors' objectives, prevention budget doubled" |

The figures illustrate phrasing: replace them with your own, with period and scope.

QVCT metrics that carry weight

  • absenteeism rate and its breakdown (illness, workplace accidents, short or long term);
  • workplace accident frequency and severity rates;
  • turnover and first-year exits;
  • number of reported situations and time to resolution;
  • survey results on workload and working conditions, with participation rate;
  • action plan completion (measures started or completed).

A method point worth showing: an absenteeism figure says nothing on its own. Cross it with how the department is organized, restructuring and seasonality.

Common mistakes

  • Reducing QVCT to perks: activities can appear, but not as the heart of your approach.
  • Leaving out the stakeholders: works council, CSSCT, occupational health, managers, Anact or Aract. A QVCT approach run by HR alone is hard to believe.
  • Confusing compliance with an initiative: keeping the DUERP up to date is an obligation. The achievement is the prevention actions that follow and their effect.
  • Citing individual health data: stay at a collective, anonymized level.

For a leadership role, QVCT is part of a wider picture; our HR director resume example shows how to fit it into a strategic positioning. You can also open the pre-filled HR director resume and add your QVCT achievements.

Frequently asked questions

Should I write QVT or QVCT on my resume?

QVCT has been the Labour Code term since 31 March 2022. Use it for recent experience. For work done before that date, "QVT" is still accurate; you can write "QVT/QVCT" in your skills section to cover both searches.

Is QVCT negotiation mandatory in every company?

It applies to companies with one or more union branches of representative trade unions (Article L2242-1). Risk assessment and the DUERP, on the other hand, apply to every employer.

How can I showcase QVCT without having negotiated an agreement?

Highlight the assessment, your work on the DUERP, organizational actions, manager training, and metrics tracked with occupational health or the works council. These are skills in their own right.

Do wellbeing activities belong on a resume?

Yes, if they are part of a broader approach and you give the context: a need identified in the assessment, a target group, follow-up. On their own, they carry little weight.

On an HR resume, QVCT is proven through an assessment, action on actual work, social dialogue and tracked metrics. Build your experience around those four elements. Open the pre-filled HR director resume or build your HR resume to get started.
