ATS used in France: which ones to know and how to list them on your CV

When you apply for a recruiter role, the ATS question comes up almost every time: "Which system have you worked on?" Behind it, the company wants to know how quickly you will be up and running, whether you can configure the tool or only use it, and whether you are used to a large-group or a smaller-company environment. This guide walks through the main applicant tracking systems found in France, grouped by family, then shows you how to write them on your CV so they actually prove something. You won't find a ranking here: what matters is not which tool is most widespread, but which one you know how to get the most out of.

ATS: what exactly are we talking about?

An ATS (applicant tracking system) centralises the recruitment cycle: creating job ads, posting to multiple job boards, receiving and screening applications, tracking stages, scheduling interviews, collaborating with managers, generating offers and, depending on the tool, reporting and talent pool management.

For a recruiter, three levels of use coexist, and they don't carry the same weight on a CV:

  • User: you create job ads, move candidates through stages, send template messages.
  • Power user or local lead: you build role workflows, manage email templates, pull reports, train managers.
  • Administrator or project lead: you helped choose the tool, configure it, migrate data and integrate it with the HRIS or payroll.

The difference between these levels is the first thing a reader looks for. A bare "Workday" could mean two weeks of read-only access or three years of administration.

The main ATS families found in France

The tools below are grouped by the kind of environment where you often come across them. The categories overlap, and the list is not exhaustive.

Recruiting modules within HR suites

Mostly found in large groups and international companies, where recruitment is integrated with other HR processes (core HR, talent management, learning).

  • Workday Recruiting
  • SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting
  • Oracle Recruiting Cloud (and the older Oracle Taleo, still in place in some organisations)
  • Cornerstone (recruiting module)
  • Cegid's talent solutions, Cegid having acquired the French vendor Talentsoft

What matters on a CV: scope (number of countries, entities, users), your part in a rollout, the connection with other modules. If you have worked on HR information systems more broadly, the article on the HRIS CV will help you present that project dimension.

Specialist ATS from French vendors

Common in small and mid-sized companies, multi-site networks and some public bodies, with a French-language interface and posting to the domestic job boards.

  • Flatchr
  • Taleez
  • Beetween
  • DigitalRecruiters
  • Jobaffinity
  • Softy
  • Welcome to the Jungle, whose ATS is often used alongside the company's employer page on the platform

What matters on a CV: rollout or redesign, well-managed multi-posting, getting managers to use the tool, setting up reporting.

International ATS built for collaborative hiring

Often chosen by scale-ups, tech companies or subsidiaries of foreign groups, with strong features for interview scorecards, custom pipelines and integrations.

  • Teamtailor
  • SmartRecruiters
  • Greenhouse
  • Lever
  • Recruitee (Tellent group)

What matters on a CV: structured evaluation grids, integrations (calendars, assessment tools, messaging), stage automation and the data you drew from it.

Business tools at IT consultancies and agencies

At IT services firms (ESNs, in French) and recruitment agencies, candidate tracking often happens in a tool that also manages assignments, clients or consultants, such as BoondManager, used by IT consultancies, or in the agency's CRM.

What matters on a CV: managing consultant talent pools, the link between recruitment and staffing, tracking client assignments.

How to list an ATS on your CV

In the skills section: tool + level + context

Before: "Software: Workday, Teamtailor, LinkedIn Recruiter, Excel"

After: "ATS: Workday Recruiting (power user, 3 years, 12 countries), Teamtailor (administrator, full rollout) · Sourcing: LinkedIn Recruiter · Reporting: Excel (pivot tables), Looker Studio"

Two or three well-described tools beat a list of ten logos. If you used a tool for only a few months, you can leave it out or mark it as "basic knowledge".

In your experience: what you did with the tool

This is where the ATS becomes an achievement. Your reader wants to know whether you improved the process through the tool.

Before: "Used the ATS to track candidates."

After: "Led the Flatchr rollout for 6 branches (tool selection with the HR director, workflow configuration, training for 18 managers); retired Excel tracking sheets within 3 months."

Before: "Managed applications in SmartRecruiters."

After: "Built structured interview scorecards in SmartRecruiters for 15 job families, adopted by all tech and product managers."

Take a fictional profile: a recruiter with 4 years' experience at a network of private clinics. Her original line read "Proficient in Beetween". Rewritten:

"Beetween lead for 9 facilities: job ad templates by healthcare role, posting to healthcare job boards, monthly extraction of hiring lead times for management."

You immediately understand the sector, the role, the level of use and the link to metrics. The article on recruiter KPIs for your CV details the numbers you can pull from your ATS.

ATS achievements employers care about most

  • A tool selection or migration project: requirements, vendor comparison, data migration, change management with managers.
  • Configuration that simplified the process: fewer stages, automated approvals, email templates, reminders.
  • Candidate data compliance: retention periods configured, talent pool purges, candidate notices. In France, the CNIL (the data protection authority) has published a reference framework for data processing in recruitment that serves as a benchmark.
  • Reporting: dashboards built from ATS data, shared with leadership or managers.
  • Manager adoption: training, user guides, tracking feedback completion in the tool.
  • Integrations: link with payroll or the HRIS to create the employee record, connection with assessment or calendar tools.

Phrase them with the same three-part structure as the rest of your CV: action, result, scope.

What if you have never used the target company's ATS?

That is very common, and it is not a dealbreaker. ATS tools share the same logic: job, pipeline, stages, evaluations, reporting. Employers rarely hire someone for their tool, but they like to see that you are comfortable with this kind of software.

A few ways to show it:

  • Highlight variety: "Worked on three different ATS (large group, SME, agency)" shows adaptability.
  • Describe functions rather than brands: "configured workflows and communication templates", "built reports".
  • Do your homework before the interview: some vendors offer demos or public documentation. You can then discuss the tool without claiming to master it.

Never list a tool you have not used. It is the kind of claim that falls apart in two questions.

The recruiter's ATS or the ATS reading your CV?

The same acronym describes the tool you use and the one that will process your application. You know better than anyone how these systems extract information from a CV. Apply that to your own document:

  • Standard section headings: "Professional experience", "Education", "Skills".
  • An explicit job title echoing the wording of the ad ("Recruiter", "Talent Acquisition Partner").
  • No key information inside images or headers that parsing might skip.
  • Tool names written out in full, as the job ad spells them.
  • A text-based PDF rather than a scan.

The RH-CV editor produces a PDF whose text can be read by screening software: you can build your CV in the editor and check the structure before sending. If you are interested in AI within HR tools, the article on AI in HR on your CV takes the discussion further.

Frequently asked questions

Should I list every ATS I have used?

No. Keep the ones you used significantly, and the ones that match the environment of the role you are targeting. A tool used for a few weeks during a maternity cover can go, unless it happens to be the one the company you are applying to uses.

How do I show my level on an ATS?

Use concrete terms rather than a rating bar: user, power user, local lead, administrator, rollout project lead. Add how long you used it and the scope (number of users, sites or countries).

Is LinkedIn Recruiter an ATS?

No, it is primarily a sourcing tool, even though it offers some project tracking features. On a CV, put it on a "Sourcing" line, separate from the "ATS" line. People in the trade notice that detail.

Does an ATS rollout deserve its own line?

Yes, it is often one of the strongest achievements on a recruiter's CV: it shows project management, change management with managers and process design. Describe your exact role in the project.

Is it worth mentioning GDPR compliance linked to the ATS?

Yes, in one line, especially if you configured retention periods or organised data purges. Legal teams and DPOs regularly call on recruitment teams on this topic.
